After weeks of uncertainty, it looks like both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland teams will be honoured by Belfast City Council ahead of Euro 2016.
The Council voted last night to pass an amendment, that was originally brought forward by SDLP Councillor Declan Boyle. It will be Northern Ireland's first appearance at Euro 2016 and will be the first time both teams have competed at the same major tournament.
Dublin City Council have already voted to honour both teams ahead of the tournament. The chances of the teams meeting in the tournament are slim, but reports of a game taking place in Belfast between the two teams later this year are unconfirmed.
Both Martin and Michael O'Neill were born in Northern Ireland. The Republic's manager was born in Derry, while the Northern Ireland manager was born in Portadown. Both men played a combined 96 times for the country.
Despite the vote being passed, numerous Councillors, including Independent representative Ruth Patterson were unhappy with the decision.
