John Giles says Manuel Pellegrini has no excuses for their 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions league round of 16 first leg at the Etihad last night.

After the game the Chilean said referee Jonas Erikson favored the Catalans all the way through and even harped back to previous matches in which he says Erikson made mistakes against Barca.

Pellegrini implied that the Swede wanted to make up for those past errors.
