The belated fourth season of Arrested Development, released on Netflix last year, divided fans and critics. The ressurection of the cult show did, however, prove a major success for both Netflix and creator Mitch Hurwitz. Now, the two parties have agreed to team up again with a 'multi-year' contact.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Hurwitz "will create and produce new original series for the Internet TV network through his banner The Hurwitz Company. Additionally, he will develop projects with other creators as a non-writing executive producer and will consult for Netflix on comedy series".
While fans can now look forward to more comedy from Hurwitz, the deal does not seem to elaborate on the future of Arrested Development. With the last season ending on a cliffhanger and Hurwitz offering suggestions of more from the Bluths since, there has been much speculation that the show will return for another Netflix season or the long-planned Arrested Development movie (the creation of which served as a major plot point in season four). If there's any concrete news on that front, it's being kept a secret for now.
