Anthony Foley's association with Munster has lasted 20 years and by signing a two-year deal to become the province's next head coach, Axel's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Fresh from sealing his promotion to the Munster hot seat, Foley spoke to us about the challenge he is about to embark on by succeeding Rob Penney.

"It's a bit surreal at the moment. It feels like it's happening to somebody else," he admitted, paying tribute to Munster for allowing him to progress his coaching skills through the province's youth teams and as a forwards coach.

But he also warned against a loss of focus as a result of announcing his appointment.

"There are big challenges ahead and we obviously want to win trophies this year. It's important that we keep the show going and it's important the announcement of this was on a Wednesday and we play on Sunday, to put it to bed and move on and pick it up again in July."

With scrutiny about the changes in style made by Penney, Foley also discussed game plans, stating that a team needs a "multi-faceted" approach and an ability to "adjust and adapt" to situations on the pitch.

Having witnessed the rise of Peter O'Mahoney and Conor Murray through the ranks, Foley also spoke about the aim of developing players through the Munster academy.
