The Dermot Weld-trained Free Eagle snatched victory in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes after a photo-finish to the feature race of the afternoon in another big win for the Irish raiders at Royal Ascot.
The 5/2 favourite just managed to hold on by a nose from the fast-finishing home favourite The Grey Gatsby to claim the £300K first prize.
Winning jockey Pat Smullen was delighted that his mount was finally able to show his incredible potential.
He said: "I've never enjoyed a winner like it. I've been saying for so long how good this horse is, that we've had a stop-start campaign with him up to now and he's shown how good a horse he is."
