Annalise Murphy looks like she will get her hands on the board that helped her win a silver medal at the Olympic Games in the Laser Radial class.

When Murphy returned to Dublin Airport last week, she told reporters that, despite her best efforts, she didn't expect to be able to get her hands on the boat that helped her into Irish sporting folklore.

"In the Laser class, we get supplied with a boat for the Olympics. I was trying to see if I could buy the sail after racing, but they wouldn't let us buy the sails, so I'm not really too such what's going to happen to it."

"I have to try and find to see if I will be able to get it back home. I guess it was a pretty good boat."

The Irish Times have reported that Murphy is to get the boat, thanks to a simple e-mail her mother sent to the manufacturers.

"I didn’t even have a proper email for them," Cathy McAleavey said. "I went on the website and it was one of those general ones where you fill out the box. I asked if we could buy it because normally they use them at another event, and then there was a rumour that someone had bought them in Brazil."

The prospects of getting the boat, were mentioned last week in Dun Laoghaire at Murphy's homecoming event. The National Maritime Museum in the south Dublin town looks like the most likely location for the boat's residency.
