World Champion Andy Lee is to make the first defence of his WBO Middleweight World Title in Limerick this September. Lee broke the news on his twitter account earlier this afternoon.

As expected, he will fight British star Billy Joe Saunders with September 19th confirmed as the date.

Lee won the title after beating Matt Korobov in Las Vegas last December. His first defence was due to take place in New York against Peter Quillin in April but Quillin failed to make weight the day before. The fight went ahead as a non title bout which ended in a draw.

Saunders is a former European Champion and currently has an unbeaten 21-0 record with 11 of those wins coming by knockout.
