Keith Andrews will be joining Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre at Anfield this Sunday for live commentary of a "game that doesn't need building up".
A win for Liverpool will put one loose hand on the Premier League trophy, while a victory for Manchester City will swing the pendulum in the other direction.
Andrews believes City will have to come out of the blocks fast given how powerful Liverpool are in the opening salvos of games.
"When you're playing against that, it's important to match it. They have to make sure their flair players like Silva and Toure must be prepared to do the ugly side of the game because Liverpool have the ability to run all over teams with the pace they've got and the energy they've got in midfield," said the former Ireland midfielder.
"Certainly one way to do that is for City to keep the ball and stop Liverpool doing that. But it's going to be an enthralling encounter."
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has indicated that he will not be leaning too heavily on the club's sports psychiatrist Steve Peters during the run-in.
Andrews does not see the harm in seeking Peters' help.
"Throughout my career I've probably had it on two or three occasions at football clubs. But it very much depends on the manager in terms of if he wants to implement it throughout the team. At some clubs it's an optional thing that you can do as groups or as individuals. But from my point of view, it's still a little bit frowned upon and hasn't been embraced fully. But you'd be foolish not to look at it. Certainly from Liverpool's point of view, the inexperience in terms of challenging for the league, so far, hasn't hurt them and I'm sure [Peters'] has played some part in it."
