Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero says players are scared about returning to playing football during the pandemic, as the Premier League meet today.

Aguero is one of the Premier League's top stars. He has won the title 4 times with City, scoring the goal that clinched the title back in 2012.

He told TV station El Chiringuito in his native Argentina that 'the majority of players are scared because they have children and families'.

The League is hoping to resume on June 8th, with training starting on May 18th, but there are obstacles, amid moral disquiet and objections from clubs to playing matches at neutral venues.

The British Government will also need to back any plans from a safety standpoint.

A vote by the Premier League clubs is then expected next Thursday on today's proposals.

31-year-old Aguero says players will be 'quite nervous' and 'extra careful' if they return to play behind closed doors.

"I'm scared, but I'm with my girlfriend here and I'm not going to be in contact with other people. I'm locked in my house and the only person I could infect is my girlfriend.

"They're saying that there are people that have it and don't have any symptoms but still infect you. That's why I am here at home. Maybe I have the illness and I don't even know."

Meanwhile, it's reported in the Guardian that the Premier League will invest in testing machines costing £36,000 each that can generate test results within 2 and a half hours.

The cost of private testing may be beyond some clubs in the Football League.
