A lot can happen in the world of sport in 11 years, but for Roger Federer, he still remains as one of the most successful players in tennis.

Such has been the period of Federer's dominance, Spanish tennis fan Jesus Aparicio woke from an 11 year coma to the shock of the Swiss stars career. The now 29 year old was travelling to his 18th birthday party when the car he was in crashed and he fell into a deep coma.

Aparicio woke in August and according to Tennis World, when he found out about major family and national events he may have missed, his mind turned to his hero Federer. "It came like a flash to my mind and I asked about Roger. I thought he had retired. When I knew that at 34-years, he is still playing and is number two in the world, I thought they were kidding me. When I heard that he reached 17 slam titles, I put my hands on my face."

Lleyton Hewitt is the only player still competing who was in the top ten in the World Rankings at the time of the accident, and the Australian is to retire at the end of the season. Aparacio was saving up to travel to Wimbledon in 2005 before the accident and he still hopes to see Federer in action before he retires.
