Olympic boxer Adam Nolan advanced to the last 16 of the Welterweight division at the European Games. The Wexford native defeated Alban Beqiri by unanimous decision earlier this morning.  All three judges scored the bout 30-27. He will now face Italian Dario Morello on the next round. Morello received a bye through the first round.

Later this afternoon, Michael O'Reilly makes his tournament bow. The Portlaoise native faces Croatia's Sanjin Vrgoc in the last 32 of the Middleweight division.

In shooting, Derek Burnett failed to make it out of the qualifiers of the trap shooting competition. The four time Olympian finished in tenth place. Burnett missed just five of the 125 targets in the qualification days. The gold medal was won by Alexy Alipov.
