24, the TV series which brought Kiefer Sutherland international fame will return a month earlier than was originally announced.

Executive Producer Howard Gordon told Assignment X that filming for 24: Live Another Day will begin in January 2014 and end in May, but will air from April.

For its original eight season run 24 used a unique method of real time narration, where each of its 24 episodes represented one hour in a story that spanned a single day.

This new season will feature just 12 episodes across a half day, and the episodes will jump back and forth between various times, breaking the old format.

But the good news is that all the original writing staff is set to return.

24 was originally cancelled in 2010. Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly said it felt like the right time. “We wanted it to go out strong. We didn’t want to keep it limping for two more seasons.”

The producers had considered doing feature films, but later agreed it wouldn’t work if the story wasn’t told in real time.
