It was quite the year on the pitch for Wexford GAA and it appears it was a healthy year off the pitch too.

Wexford GAA released a statement to announce that the end of year accounts will show an operating surplus of €369,422, double the surplus reported for 2018.

The 2019 accounts presented at next Monday’s County Convention will also show a growth in overall income to a total of €3,065,576.

Wexford GAA broke down the figures explaining that there was an increase in revenue from commercial income and fundraising of almost €200,000.

Local gate receipts are down slightly and national league income dropped by €84,000 compared to 2018 due to an earlier exit for the senior hurlers in the National League.

The spend on inter-county teams was €928,331, an increase on the 2018 spend of €850,144.

That was due to a good run by the minor and senior hurlers in this year’s championships.

Wexford GAA invested in several infrastructure projects in both Wexford Park and the Centre of Excellence in Ferns.

A grant of €200,000 from Sports Capital Fund to assist with the infrastructure work will be drawn down in 2020 to further strengthens their financial position.

Wexford GAA continued its strong investment in Coaching and Games Development with an expenditure of over €400,000, including administration costs.

The statement also points out how a restructured Development Squads programme and an increase in Games Development Staff has gone up from four to fourteen in less than three years.

As a result more than five and half thousand children attended summer camps in the county in 2019, increasing income in the area to €299,087.
