On the 6th March in 1964, Cassius Clay announced that he was no more, and a new star was born - Muhammad Ali.

This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Ali’s bout in Croke Park, a media circus in its time.

This visit was viewed as something of a ‘comeback tour’, given his outspoken views on the Vietnam War. In the end, it proved a very strange affair.

Gavan was joined by Donal Fallon for another episode of Hidden Histories to discuss.
