A new AA survey has said that nearly 70% of motorists would strongly support legislation designed to lower whiplash court payouts.

Solicitor Stuart Gilhooley told Newstalk Breakfast that we shouldn't assume that people are using the term 'whiplash' for financial gain, and when someone gets an injury in certain situations they deserve to be compensated.

Ivan was joined by Dr Brendan O’Shea, who is a family doctor in Kildare and Assistant professor for general practice in Trinity, who thinks whiplash is only a medical term because of Ireland's compensation culture.
