Daniel Murtagh was sentenced to the mandatory term of life imprisonment for the murder of Nadine Lott yesterday. In Ireland, the length of time spent in custody by offenders serving life sentences can vary substantially. Of the prisoners serving life sentences who have been released, the average sentence served in prison is approximately 18 years. Should a life sentence mean life?  To discuss this Shane was joined on the show by  Dara Robinson Solicitor and Senior Partner with the criminal defense practice of Sheehan and Partners.
