A virtual meeting of the G7 will take place today to discuss the escalating situation in Afghanistan.  It comes as the Taliban warns there will be 'consequences if the US delays the withdrawal of troops beyond the planned date of August 31st.  Paul Rogers Professor of Peace Studies at Bradford University spoke to us this morning with more on the upcoming G7 meeting.

Meanwhile, the government has confirmed that a small group of Army Rangers and two Department of Foreign Affairs officials are expected to arrive in Kabul this evening to help facilitate the evacuation of remaining Irish citizens. For more on this, we spoke to Declan Power Defence and Security Expert.
