Galway County Council is proposing to introduce random drug tests in secondary school.

The call has come amid a major increase in highly potent supplies of cocaine and cannabis in recent months.

Michael Maher is a Galway County Councillor for Fine Gael and Chair of Galway County's Joint Policing Committee's Crime Prevention and Personal Safety Subcommittee,  which is recommending these random tests.

He joined Shane Coleman on the show to discuss why he favours this controversial approach
