The European Union says will have to engage with the Taliban even if they don’t recognise them as the legitimate rulers of the country. The stance was outlined following an emergency meeting of the EU’s foreign ministers to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Coveney was at the meeting and joined us on the show this morning.
