Today’s Off the Ball panel was looking at something a little different, and was made up of some well known names not usually associated with the sports world.
Across this weekend Off the Ball is asking people for their favourite sports writing or sports book and first up was a panel of Arthur Mathews, co-creator of Father Ted and I Keano and a Drogheda United fan who was in studio proclaiming the merits of the 1970s sticker collections as his favourite sporting publication, above all other sports writing.
John Kelly is the presenter of The John Kelly Ensemble on Lyric FM and one of the team behind The Works, on RTE television. John’s forthcoming novel, From Out of The City, is to hit shelves soon and his pick as his favourite sports writing was The Art of Goalkeeping by Bob Wilson.
Completing the trio was Off the Ball regular and former Meath football captain Anthony Moyles, who tells us about his favourite sports book – Alive, the famous tale of the Argentinean rugby side who survived an Andes plane crash.
