A woman in Michigan discovered she had won a lottery jackpot after finding the winning ticket while sorting through some old post – and just claimed her million-dollar prize.

Linda Tuttle had purchased the ticket on May 26th this year, and promptly forgot about it – failing to ever even bother checking the numbers after the televised draw. Returning to the convenience store where she sometimes purchases lottery tickets, the cashier mentioned that that a winning ticket had been recently bought in the shop, but the winnings had not yet been claimed.

Curious, Tuttle left the store and returned home, intent on tracking down the ticket she had bought a few months ago.

The winning ticket which was worth $1m (€900k)

While tidying through some papers and mail, Tuttle happened upon the ticket and discovered that she was, in fact, the May Mega Millions winner of the Michigan lottery.

Tuttle says she intends on travelling to China to visit friends, will refurbish her home and splash some cash on a new car.
