The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has begun an investigation into the death of a woman on her family farm in Co Roscommon.

Lucy O'Connor (60) died as a result of an accident on her family farm in Kilrooskey yesterday afternoon.

Her death brings to 22 the number of people who have died on farm related deaths in the country so far this year.

It is believed the mother of five was injured by cattle when she was out on the farm, and died soon after.

The girlfriend of one of Mrs O'Connor's sons tried to help and was also injured - she is being treated in hospital.

The HSA has been notified of Mrs O'Connor's death and is carrying out an investigation.
