A woman remains in critical condition after a serious assault in County Wicklow yesterday.

Gardaí believe the woman, aged in her 30s, was attacked at a house in Arklow in the early hours of the morning.

She was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition today.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are continuing to question a man in his 30s who was arrested yesterday evening.

He is being held at Wicklow Garda Station, where he can be detained for up to 24 hours.

Investigators have not released a precise location for the scene of the alleged assault.

However, they have requested camera footage from any road users driving through Arklow town, between 4am and 5am yesterday morning.
