Repealing the 8th amendment, equal pay and investment in early year’s childcare need to be priorities for general election candidates, according to the National Women’s Council.
The organisation today released a ‘Breakthrough Manifesto for Women’ which it is asking men and women from all political backgrounds to sign up to.
The manifesto, which has been published on the National Women's Council's website, asks for a change to Ireland's record on violence against women, making early years and childcare a priority and an end for to the gender pay gap.
The council are asking for candidates to sign up for the manifesto and they will then publish the constituencies which have committed to the manifesto to their website.
In terms of voters, they are urging people to raise their voice, check for commitment and show support.
