Cold today with patchy frost/ice and fog clearing.
Mostly dry at first with a few brighter spells developing in the North and East in particular, but wet and windy weather will become widespread from the southwest during the day, reaching northeastern parts of the country after dark.
The rain is likely to be heavy for a time and could lead to some further flooding in some areas but will turn more showery in the west later.
Windy also with southeast winds increasing strong and gusty with the rain.
Afternoon temperatures ranging from just about 5 or 6 degrees in northern areas to 9 or 10 degrees near the south coast.
There is a Status Yellow warning in place for today.
A band of rain will cross the country during Wednesday afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals of 15 – 25mm are expected.

Rain will continue for a time in the Northeast tonight falling as sleet in places with local flooding.
Drier elsewhere with some showers in the west and it will be chilly again with frost and icy patches forming as temperatures fall to between 0 and 2 degrees and the winds back Westerly and ease overland.
