Today
Frost and icy patches on untreated footpaths and roads in many areas this morning. Some fog patches also.
Any frost and fog will gradually clear to a mainly dry day across northern and eastern areas with some sunny spells developing.
However, further south and west it will be cloudier with outbreaks of rain affecting parts of Munster, south Leinster as well as Atlantic coastal counties.
Westerly winds will be light to moderate; highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.
Tonight
Cold with clear spells and little or no wind will lead to widespread severe frost and ice forming again on untreated surfaces.
There will also be more widespread fog. Cloud and patchy rain in the west will gradually extend eastwards later in the night, falling as sleet or snow in places towards dawn.
Lowest temperatures between minus 2 to plus 4 degrees (mildest along the coastal fringe).
