Reteaming with the creator of Peaky Blinders, Tom Hardy is returning to the small screen for a BBC mini-series titled Taboo.

Set in 1814, Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back fundamentally changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself.

However, he returns to England with potential enemies around every corner, and the supporting cast includes such heavyweights as Jonathan Pryce (Wolf Hall), Michael Kelly (House Of Cards), and Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones).

The show will be exec-produced by Ridley Scott, who is currently up for Best Director at this weekend's Academy Awards for his work on The Martian, but has previously produced hit TV shows such as The Good Wife and The Man In The High Castle.

There is no set date for the release of the show on either BBC or it's American co-producing channel FX.
