Sarah Palin returned to the world stage during the week when she announced to a crowd in Iowa that she was backing Donald Trump's campaign to become president of the United States.

The speech in which she announced her support garnered plenty of attention for some of the strange syntax used and sentiments extpressed, as did the news that her son had been arrested and charged in a domestic violence case.

Many of those topics appeared in Saturday Night Live's opening skit, as Tina Fey returned in the guise of one her most popular characters to lampoon Palin's backing of Trump.
