A man from Letterkenny has just taken a leap of faith, by fusing the famous lyrics of the 'Hills Of Donegal' anthem with references from Star Wars franchise, to create a smashing parody.

Letterkenny native Alex Dean, posted a video of himself singing his composition with the rolling hills and valleys providing a beautiful backdrop.

And in a very Daft Punk-esque move, he sings the song while sporting a helmet worn by the Jedi Stormtroopers in the famous films.

The video has accumulated over 50,000 Facebook views so far, and that number will surely climb.

The Star Wars cast were in Malin Head last week, filming scenes for their upcoming film, Star Wars: Episode VIII at Brow Head, and have since moved on to west Cork.

In the previous film, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,'  the final scene shows the star Luke Skywalker hiding from his enemies in the iconic beauty of Skellig Michael.
