Most New Yorkers are currently huddling indoors, making good use of blankets and coffee - but not everyone is steering clear of the snow.

YouTube user Casey Neistat was inspired by the massive 25 inch (62.5cm) snowfall to make use of his snowboard in the streets of the Big Apple.

Bystanders were clearly impressed, even the NYPD officers who felt obliged to pull him over.

"Someone complained about you so we're gonna just look like we're talking to you," said one.

However not all officers are likely to be so understanding, and the police force has warned that it will arrest people breaking its 2.30pm driving curfew.
