The coastal areas of France are still being pummeled by extreme weather, and this video shows the dangers of turning your back on the sea.

As a young man films the storm at the beach, a rogue wave arrives on the shore just as he's turned to face the camera.

An elderly couple pass by, and the wave knocks the elderly man off his feet, dragging him out to sea.

His wife tries to assist, but she too is dragged away by the wave.

The cameraman attempts to help, before also succumbing to the power of the waves.

The rogue wave arrives in the video from 2.15 onwards.

According to local newspaper Le Telegramme, all three were saved when several passersby came to their rescue, and were all taken to a local hospital.
