Three men are being treated in hospital after being struck by a car in county Clare this evening.

GSOC officers are currently investigating the collision which happened in the village of Parteen.

The Garda Ombudsman received the referral of a collision where gardai had been pursuing a car - that was linked to an earlier incident - shortly after 5pm.

The car, that was being pursued by gardai, was involved in a collision with a stationary car and three pedestrians were injured.

The three men have been transferred to hospital for treatment.

It's believed the two male occupants of the car fled afterwards and gardai carried out a search of the area.

One man is being detained at Mayorstone Park Garda Station while gardai are currently searching the area for a second man.
