Thursday's weather: Rain will clear to sunny spells and scattered showers

Today

Cloudy this morning with outbreaks of rain affecting all areas. The rain will turn persistent in places and will be locally heavy. A clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers will follow from the west, with some showers heavy over Connacht and Ulster.

Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees, coolest along Atlantic coasts. Fresh to strong southerly winds will veer westerly with the clearance.

Tonight

Scattered showers will continue over the northern half of the country, with the odd heavy one, but showers will by isolated by morning.

Further south, it will be mostly dry with a few clear spells at first but clouding over as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly or southwesterly winds.
