We can expect a few bright spells or short sunny spells today, but generally it will be cloudy and misty, with fog on hills and some coasts. Some outbreaks of rain too, which will be persistent at times, but much of the rain should become confined to northern areas, by early afternoon. But a band of heavy and possibly thundery rain will push into Atlantic coastal areas this evening. Close and humid, with top temperatures of 16 to 21 C., in freshening southerly winds.
