New GE16 poll sees a fall in support for coalition parties

A new poll has shown a slight fall in support for the coalition parties. However, the changes in the new Red C poll for Paddy Power are within the margin of error. This poll is the first to been totally carried out after the election campaign began officially. 1,002 adults were sampled over five days between Thursday and Monday.

Almost €1 million worth of cocaine seized in Dublin home

€930,000 worth of cocaine has been seized by Gardai in Dublin. The drugs were found after a house was searched in Tallaght yesterday evening. Gardai discovered approximately thirteen kilos of Cocaine along with a small quantity of ecstasy tablets during the search.

Small Firms Association claims Luas drivers are 'holding the country to ransom'

Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe has called on unions and management to re-engage with the Labour Court in an attempt to avert a Luas strike. The company that operates the Luas says it could lose up to €100,000 per day if the strike by drivers goes ahead. Transdev says it cannot afford to pay increases of up to 54%.

Woman hospitalised following roadside robbery by man impersonating garda

A woman has been hospitalised following an attack during a roadside robbery in Co Wexford. The woman was attacked by a man impersonating a garda. She was driving to work this morning when a man driving a dark coloured, older type Ford Mondeo stopped her. The car had a blue flashing light - to give the impression it was a garda car. Gardaí have confirmed it was not a garda car.
