The Taoiseach says junior minister John Perry is committed to doing his job and he does not want to say anymore at this stage.

Enda Kenny has revealed he spoke to the Small Business Minister last Sunday ahead of a court case where a judgement for failing to repay a loan was made against him.

Last Monday in the Commercial Court Mr. Perry and his wife were given 6 weeks to repay a debt of almost €2.5 million.

Opposition parties are claiming a possible conflict of interest because of his interaction with banks as small business minister while as a private citizen also trying to negotiate loans with them.

Last night the spokesman for the Taoiseach said Mr. Kenny had confidence in the Sligo deputy.

But speaking on Midwest radio this morning Enda Kenny was not expressing the same confidence.

He says he spoke to the junior minister on Sunday before the court judgement and is reluctant to say anymore until after the court finalises the issue in 6 weeks.
