Today's meeting with President Biden is the headline in the Taoiseach's virtual programme of events in the US this St Patrick's Day.

Climate, the economy, Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic will be among the issues discussed.

The topic of vaccinations is also expected to be raised.

Mr Martin will also thank President Biden for his ongoing support for the Good Friday Agreement.

The tradition of presenting a bowl of shamrock to a US president will also continue this year despite the pandemic.

The crystal bowl is due to be placed on Joe Biden's desk for the virtual meeting.

A busy day of events will also see the Taoiseach meet remotely with US Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
