The turmoil surrounding the Kesha-Dr Luke court-case continues to swirl, as the parenting company involved in both the artist and the producer break their silence on the situation.
Following input from Adele, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift amongst others, earlier this week Kesha herself broke her silence regarding the issue, and today Sony have spoken up, too.
After the court case ruled against breaking the contract of Kesha to Dr Luke, she remains signed to his label, Kemosabe Records, which is a subsidiary of Sony.
Speaking to the New York Times, Scott A. Edelman, an attorney representing the company, stated: “Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha. Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party."
