Investigations are underway after more than 120 sheep died in a fire in County Donegal last weekend.

Gardaí said the fire broke out in a hay shed on a farm at Drumbuoy in Lifford on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted at around 1pm; however, they were unable to save the sheep inside the shed.

A Garda spokesperson said between 120 and 130 sheep were burned to death.

No humans were injured.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Lifford Garda Station.
