A search operation is resuming in Carlow this morning after a young man fell into the River Barrow.

It happened yesterday evening - about 3 kilometres from Carlow Town.

The Gardai, coastguard and members of the Civil Defence began their search of the area after the incident was reported last night.

But the search was stood down yesterday evening due to deteriorating weather conditions.

It's set to resume this morning.
