Residents of Riverwalk Court in Ratoath, Co Meath, are calling for the County Council to oversee and sign off on remedial works.
When a fire safety advisory letter was issued last December, citing 15 discrepancies, residents feared an evacuation order.
They have now been informed by the local authority that the developer has offered remedial works, and they have confirmed the works being offered are acceptable to the Council.
Yesterday, the residents received a letter from the developer seeking access to their properties to carry out the works.
Mark Fitzmaurice, spokesperson for the Riverwalk Court residents gave his reaction to developments on Newstalk.com's Breakfast show:
"It is definitely a step in the right direction and we do welcome it, but there is still a long way to go."
