Updated 20.35:

Just hours after announcing that he would ignore Congressional opposition when he announces a series of unilateral steps to regulate gun sales and curb illicit purchases later, President Obama was discussing the issue again in front of the world.

This time, while surrounded by family members of victims of gun violence, President Obama was moved to tears on the subject.

Later on the speech, Obama stated that: "I believe that we can find ways to reduce gun violence consistent with the Second Amendment … this is not a plot to take away everybody’s guns … We do have to feel a sense of urgency about it. In Dr. King’s words, we need to feel the fierce urgency of now.”

Senator Ted Cruz is a candidate to run in the presidential election for the opposing Republican party, and has reacted to Obama's plans thusly:

Meanwhile, America's First Freedom - the official publication of the National Rifle Association (NRA) - released an image of their Twitter feed of T bullets next to two politicians — Sen. Roxanne Persaud and Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon — who support increased gun-control measures.
