The US President has led the tributes at the funeral of a pastor killed when a gunman opened fire on a bible group last week.

Clementa Pinckney was one of nine people killed in the attack in Charleston in South Carolina.

Barack Obama said it would be a betrayal of the pastor's memory if the country does not address issues such as racism and gun violence.

He read the eulogy in front of 5,000 people.
