Daily listeners to Newstalk have increased by 18,000 over the last year with the station now reaching 443,000 each weekday.

Importantly, 12,000 of these new listeners come from the key 20 to 44-year-old audience demographic, showing Newstalk is the clear leader for a new generation of talk listeners.

Newstalk Managing Editor Patricia Monahan said: β€˜It’s fantastic to see continued and consistent growth across the station and to achieve another milestone for Newstalk of 7.2% market share.”

β€œIt’s particularly encouraging to see strong growth in the 20 – 44 age group and all programmes across weekday and weekends having impact.

β€œNewstalk has been across the country with our Summer Tour in recent weeks and it’s great to see such a positive response from our audience and have that reflected in these numbers."

Newstalk is now beating its main competitor RTÉ Radio by 9,000 listeners in that key demographic.

In the important Dublin market, Newstalk remains the second biggest station in the capital, every day with a 12.2% market share and 178,000 daily listeners.
