Newstalk hits new record-high listenership in Ireland

Newstalk has hit another record-high audience share with 480,000 listeners now tuning in every day.

The station’s national market share is now at an all-time high of 8%, according to the latest JNLR results, with 838,000 people tuning in every week.

All the station’s primetime shows saw audience increases, with The Pat Kenny Show leading the way.

The show, which celebrated 10 years on Newstalk last year, now has a record daily listenership of 216,000 – a 25% increase in the last 12 months.

Sean Moncrieff also recorded an all-time high audience for his afternoon show, which now reaches 115,000 listeners every day – up 5,000 in the last three months.

Meanwhile, Newstalk Breakfast with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman and The Hard Shoulder with Kieran Cuddihy both saw increases in listenership with daily audiences now standing at 149,000 (up 5,000) and 153,000 (up 6, 000) respectively.

Lunchtime Live with Andrea Gilligan also saw 6,000 more listeners tuning in bringing the show’s total to 113,000 listeners daily.

Off The Ball continued to prove itself a destination for sport fans with the weekday evening show now enjoying a listenership of 50,000 every day and its weekend counterpart attracting audiences of 141,000 and 132,000 respectively on Saturday and Sunday.

Dublin

Newstalk also retained its commanding position in Dublin – enjoying a market share of 12.1% in the capital.

It means Newstalk now has record weekly and daily listenerships of 300,000 and 192,000 respectively in Dublin.

  • Moncrieff | 110,000 Listeners – up 5,000
  • The Hard Shoulder | 153,000 listeners – up 6,000
  • Off The Ball | 50,000 listeners – up 3,000

Weekend – Saturday

  • The Home Show | 48,000 – up 2,000
  • Anton Savage Show Saturday | 133,000 – up 13,000
  • Down To Business | 112,000 – up 13,000
  • Off The Ball Saturday | 142,000 – up 10,000
  • Tech Talk | 41,000 – up 5,000
  • Screentime | 23,000 – up 1,000

Weekend – Sunday

  • Alive and Kicking | 41,000 – up 2000
  • Taking Stock | 57,000 – up 7,000
  • Anton Savage Show Sunday | 98,000 (New show)
  • Futureproof | 61,000 (New timeslot)
