The New Year is a bad time for resolutions and people should instead wait until the spring, a life coach has suggested.
As clocks across the world tick down towards 2026, many people will also be reflecting on their lives and how they want to improve them in the year ahead.
On Newstalk, life coach Mark Fennell suggested people might want to wait a few more months.
“I always think when it comes to New Year's, there's a lot of pressure,” he explained.
“A lot of people get anxious. ‘Oh, I need to be doing something, everyone else is doing something, I better make a new resolution, I better change something about my life.’
“So, there's a lot of pressure that comes with it as well and it may not suit you.”

“They find that most resolutions that are started in spring tend to succeed - which is around March, April - that's what the data shows,” he said.
“The data shows now, but New Year's resolutions tend not to, as we all know.
“And the whole, ‘New Year, new me thing’, I think it's very fluffy.”
Mr Fennell added that New Year’s resolutions are part of a “herd mentality” that people could do without.
“If your motivation is doing something because everyone else is, it's destined to fail,” he predicted.
“So, ask yourself, what's the why behind the what? It always goes a long way.”
