However 15 stores will remain open securing 250 jobs.

The company sought the appointment of an examiner in July of this year in a bid to restructure its business and secure its long term future.

The restructuring plan also involves a rent reduction of 30% across all stores.

Mothercare is currently in consultation with around 25 staff members affected by the store closures.

The company currently employs 276 people in 18 shops across Ireland.

Jonathan Ward is store operations director of Mothercare Ireland.

He says they hope to relocate as many staff as possible.
