A mother has come forward to tell the story of how she was encouraged by medics to place her disabled child in a baby home - where she was told he would be starved of food to hasten his death.
'Rose' gave birth to her baby when she was aged 22. 'Peter' was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalous in the 1960s.
She says a surgeon advised her to put her son in a home run by nuns, but 'Peter' died days before he was due to be transferred.
She told Newstalk Lunchtime her story.

The government has today announced a full Commission of Investigation into mother and baby homes. It will have full statutory powers to seek documents and compel witnesses.
The terms of reference for the Commission will be decided when a final report comes from a high-level departmental group.
That report, from nine government departments, is due to be finished by June 30th.
