The Transport Minister has called on Aer Lingus to drop its plans to sue the union SIPTU. The airline is suing over its threat to strike last Friday under a number of headings - including breach of contract and conspiracy.
Last Wednesday, an injunction prevented trade union members from walking off the job as part of a pensions row.
The proposed action was part of an on-going row about cuts to pension benefits at Aer Lingus and the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA).
The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and Ryanair argued that a planned four-hour work stoppage by the union would have cost them millions of euro and disrupt thousands of passengers.
However Aer Lingus says the the threat of the strike left it severely out of pocket.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar says the expert group set up to resolve the pensions row at the heart of the dispute must be allowed time to proceed.
He says Aer Lingus plans to sue are unhelpful.
