More than 400 people applied for just 63 jobs at the newest McDonald's restaurant in Ireland.

The new restaurant opened its doors on the Kinsale Road in Co Cork yesterday.

It is the 4th McDonald's in Cork, and brings to more than 200 the number of people employed by the company there.

The jobs were advertised online, with some 350 interviews taking place.

Businessman Jim Ronayne runs the restaurant.

He says they received a varied mix of applicants.
